Plenty is a little business in Perth, Western Australia with the goal of helping folks to achieve better health simply by eating better food.  A big part of this is realising that a healthy, plant based diet doesn't mean starving on nothing but bowls of lettuce (all due respect to lettuce!)  There are plenty of satisfying plant based dishes to be tried which contain plenty of protein, plenty of minerals - iron & calcium included – and plenty of exciting flavours to keep us coming back for more!!


Our story

Plenty is a love match!  Kim Bourne met Mark Abbott in May 2005 (our eyes met across a crowded restaurant on a balmy summer's evening in North Beach...)  and that is pretty much where is all started!!  We found ourselves on similar paths towards self improvement and naturally began to help each other forward.  Mark brought the meditation and I had him up for 6am yoga sessions, Mark tut-tutted when I reached for the cheese and introduced me to Rita Preston who with her seemingly infinite healer's wisdom taught us both the importance of diet, fasting, self-discipline  and most importantly listening and understanding the needs of our own bodies – after all, who can really feel what is happening inside ourselves better than ourselves? If we are listening carefully, that is... And the positive results we experienced have been inspiration to spread the love!

Kim... that's me. I've always had a deep interest in good food – not just eating it(!) but have always felt drawn into the kitchen, so even as a child I was involved in meal preparations, whether it was stirring a sauce or, my favourite, shelling fresh green peas. As I grew into an adult I realised that when guests arrived I was invariably in the kitchen and too busy creating dinner to really stop and chat for too long... so one gathering I opted out of the cooking responsibility and spent the evening sitting at the table. It was during that night, just not feeling quite right about being disengaged from the catering, I came to the realisation that preparing food for the people I care about is my way of giving, caring, expressing my love & gratitude. So what better way to build my career than by developing new ways to give? Not just to my friends and family, but to my wider community and not just food for immediate pleasure, but also for long term health & vitality! Fortunately for me, I have wonderfully supportive family & friends around me, in particular my fabulous husband who has taken this leap into business with me and is always there with plenty of strength & enthusiasm, not to mention a slightly skewy sense of humour... that'll be him with the whacky facebook posts and heckling folks at the farmer's market!!
